Underwater CPP Blade Exchange on Stern Thruster
After a loud noise during departure in England and Failure in Zeebrugge on The Stern Thruster, one of our teams attended immediately after an email to check the Propulsion Unit.
As soon as the team was in the underwater inspection on the unit they found a sheered of blade most possibly caused by fatigue and initiated by an impact with an object in the flow of the water.
A spare blade was arranged by the maker of the system in order to perform an inwater exchange of the damaged propeller blade.
All Hydraulics were arranged from the Rotterdam office and on the next return trip the defective blade was removed and exchanged by the spare CPP blade.
The bolts were tightened with our hytorc equipment from stock and secured by means of underwater stainless steel welding on the securing wires.
